Position Summary

A Software Engineer II works on a team of coders who build software solutions with AI/ML integrations that enable customers to solve problems at scale. These associates contribute positively to the team’s work, culture, and wellbeing — they are Walmart Culture Champions.

About the Opportunity

This is an exclusive full-time opportunity for Indian students studying in the United States to launch their careers at our India Development Center (IDC). As part of our global talent strategy, we’re inviting high-potential graduates to join our engineering teams and work on impactful, large-scale technology solutions.

As an associate, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that builds scalable software systems with AI/ML integrations. You’ll contribute to real-world projects, learn from experienced engineers, and gain exposure to Walmart’s vast technology ecosystem. Campus recruits are expected to demonstrate curiosity, ownership, and a strong learning mindset while embodying Walmart’s culture and values.

This role is based at our Bangalore or Chennai office, with flexibility for associates to manage their personal and professional balance.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable software systems.
  • Collaborate across product, design, and data teams.
  • Solve complex challenges in AI/ML, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms.
  • Participate in agile development cycles and code reviews.
  • Build solutions that improve customer and associate experiences.
  • Work on domains like supply chain, retail, finance, logistics, and mobile development.
  • Use technologies such as Java, Hadoop, Cassandra, ERP, and Machine Learning frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Final-year students (Class of 2026) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in tools/frameworks like GitHub, Co-pilot, Qodo Merge, DX AI Chat.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
  • Passion for building technology that impacts millions.
  • Indian nationals currently enrolled in US universities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • Option 2: 3 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.

Preferred Qualifications

We value candidates with experience creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards. Familiarity with assistive technologies and accessibility best practices is preferred.
